5 Ws Class Rules Poster - First Day of School - Kindergarten

These class rules are great for daily simple and realistic rules. Students can always refer to these rules daily to check on their daily behavior. My students chant these rules in class and we have made s short song out of them. They are easy to remember and apply. I love the soft colors on them but upon request, I can change them to colors of your liking. They are also perfect because they help students remember their 5 was and answer questions about their rules.

Mother's Day Poem - Poem For Kids - Er Poem

Mother's day, what a special day. On this day we celebrate mother, guardians, and our grandmothers. This day is special to us as adults, teachers but it's even more important to our students. So it is important for us as teachers to help them celebrate their mothers in the best way possible.

The best thing you can do for a mother or caretaker is to remind them that you care, recognize them by showing them that you see them. Showing them that you see all that they do and you appreciate them and the best way to do this is through showing up for them. By communicating your thoughts and feelings to them in writing, in words. The best gift especially for our students is a written gift, something their moms will see, read and remember. Something they can put up on their wall or on the fridge to remind them how amazing they are and that they are appreciated.

If you are planning a Mother's Day lesson for your students we have the perfect gift to seal your lesson and help your students. The You Are A Star Mother's Day Poem is perfect for students of all ages.
Use this mother's day poem to teach students about mother's day and get them to talk about their mothers or guardians. You can also use this poem to introduce er words or er poems. Students can read the poem, practice challenging vocabulary, and then color the poem or paint over it. There are different templates to fit your class's personal needs.

Reading Elementary School - Kindergarten Reading and 1st Grade Reading

It makes me so happy seeing my students progress from the different levels of reading. What makes me even happier is the love they develop for reading and how intrigued they are about the stories. They all look forward to library day more than I do, and the choice to pick a book of their choice and read alone or with a friend is icing on a cake for them.

I teach 1st grade, and this year is a very defining moment for students. This is the time where students learn whether they are good or not-so-good readers. And while this tends to change, the not-so-good readers are really affected by knowing that their level is not as high as their friends. So I tend to do pull-outs every chance I get to help my low-level students keep up with their peers and not feel left behind. I really enjoy this one-on-one time as it gives me an opportunity to really get a sense of where my students are in reading. And also it gives me the chance to meet their personal reading needs.

To make reading time organized and less time-consuming, I plan reading day beforehand using my Guided Reading Planner and Readers Workshop Planner. This planner is a lifesaver not just for reading but for writing too.

Roll The Dice Exercise Fitness Game - Physical Education - Kindergarten Games - Brain Break

How to incorporate exercise in the classroom

There has been a lot of research on children's attention span over the years. As debatable as the numbers have been, we can all agree that children cannot pay attention for a long time. At least not as long as we would like them to. It is said that five-year-olds' minimum attention span varies from 14 to 15 minutes and eight-year-olds 16 to 24 minutes.

The importance of brain breaks in the classroom
Looking at your students' attention span, we can probably agree that brain breaks are important and need to happen more often throughout the day. To make sure that students benefit from brain breaks and that they don't completely take them out of their learning. Teachers need to ensure that brain breaks are educational but fun and playful.

How do your students take breaks?
Please be sure to answer the question in the email box below.
In my classroom we play games, at least that's what my students think. I trick them into thinking we are just having fun, but in actuality, we are learning through fun. I have seen my students respond positively to this. Not only are they having fun but they are learning too.

Fitness and exercise in the Classroom
The best way for students to take breaks is through fitness and any other kind of movement. This can vary from dance, stretching, and other fitness exercises. It can be difficult to think of fun and quick - no-prep activities to do with students during transitions, brain breaks, or even quick Physical Education (PE) lessons. We have done the work for you so that you do not have to. We have created one of many to come, the fitness game that your students will love.

Roll The Dice Fitness Dice Game

One of the classic games for children is any dice game you can think of. So we have created a fun and colorful dice game to get your students moving and having fun. These fitness brain break games are perfect for students of all ages, kindergarten, elementary school, and middle school. We use them with our students and they love them. They come in black and white and colors, depending on preference and on your printer.
